Online Communities: The Social Web

Last week I had the privilege of presenting at the Genesee Valley Psychological Association's 2009 annual conference.

I was asked to share some thoughts about online communities and social networks. I've embedded my presentation here.

I began with an overview and definition of social media, social networks, and social network services. Next I provided some statistics and compelling reasons to pay attention to social media and discover its value. Finally, I outlined the steps one would need to take when building a community online.
